2213010 – Bioverfahrenstechnik

Die Vorlesung beginnt erst am Donnerstag, den 24.10.2024. Das Passtwort zu den Unterlagen erhalten sie in der ersten Vorlesung. The course will link with basic engineering and biotechnological knowledge gained in the first years of studies. Knowledge of previous courses will be reinforced and applied for the technical development of upstream bioprocesses. The objective of this course is to provide the students with the necessary and fundamental insight of bioprocess engineering. This includes fundamentals in biocatalysis (mainly cells as biocatalysts), microbial kinetics, mass and energy balance in bioprocesses; kinetics of bioprocesses and fermentation, bioreactor engineering design and operation of fermentation processes for the production of high value bio-products. The students will learn to apply the key principles of mass and energy balances in an (integrated) bioprocess, as well as the novel techniques used for the manufacture of safe and effective biological materials.
