4022041 – Astroparticle Physics II: Cosmic Rays

Introduction to the astrophysics of high-energy charged particles (observation, acceleration, propagation, and sources)

Allgemeine Informationen

Wichtige Informationen
Together with the course "Astroparticle Physics II - Gamma-Ray Astronomy and Neutrinos", which is offered in the SS, a complete picture of high-energy particles with their underlying production and transport processes in our universe is obtained. The subject matter of the two lectures is complementary in nature, although they may attended independently of one another. The lecture ATP II "Cosmic rays" is complementary to further in-depth lectures (e.g. Astroparticle Physics II " Gamma rays" or "Particles and stars").
Kursprogramm
In this lecture series on cosmic rays, we will cover topics such as the interaction of particles with matter and magnetic fields, physics of extended air showers, propagation in the galaxy, extragalactic propagation, direct and indirect methods of detection, acceleration, and potential sources.
