This seminar will provide an overview of technology regulation, with a particular focus on the regulation of AI systems. Following an introduction to the different forms of regulation, students will explore the various regulatory instruments in light of the key principles of AI, such as
fairness / non-discrimination,
transparency / explainability,
non-maleficence,
privacy / data protection,
sustentability
security / safety, and
accountability.
This will enable them to discuss how these principles and rules can be applied in real-world scenarios.
