2312717 – Superconducting Materials Part I
Superconducting materials are not only the foundation of basic experiments in physics and technical applications in the field of medicine, magnets for basic science, ultra sensitive sensors and electronics, but the ceramic High Temperature Superconductors (HTSC) open also exciting opportunities in the classical field of power applications. Within this lecture series I will give a broad overview about the basic properties of classical, modern and „exotic“ superconducting materials, as well as the different ways to synthesize and characterize them using modern synthesis methods and nanotechnology (as bulk material, thin film or practical wire).
Content of Part I:
• Overview and basic knowledge about superconductivity
• Superconducting elements and compounds
• Classical low-temperature superconductors
• High Temperature Superconductors
• Fe-based and other „exotic“ superconductors
• Synthesis of superconducting wires
• Critical currents and pinning in type II superconductors
• Micro- und nanostructured superconductors
• Applications of superconducting materials in electronics,
medicine and magnet/power technology
This lecture is intended both for electrical engineering and physics students with interest in material science as well as material science students
