This lecture presents some fundamental knowledge of flow and heat transfer phenomena in nuclear reactors and covers the following aspects: (1) heat release and distribution in nuclear reactors, (2) heat transfer process in nuclear reactors, (3) flow characteristics (pressure drops, flow stability) of nuclear systems and (4) tasks and methodologies of thermal-hydraulic design.
