4028061 – X-ray Physics I: Scattering, Diffraction and Spectroscopy on Crystals, Thin Films and Nanostructures

The lecture builds a bridge from fundamental physics to modern X-ray methods & technologies and provides an overview of important application fields. The lecture will introduce experimental and theoretical principles of state-of-the-art X-ray scattering, diffraction, and spectroscopy techniques for the investigation of structure and lattice dynamics (phonons) of crystals, thin films, and nanostructures. Various mechanisms of interaction of X-rays with matter and their utilization in reciprocal, frequency and momentum space will be discussed.
