4023151 – The ABC of DFT

In this course, we will talk about the basics of density functional theory (DFT). In the first few lectures, a focus will be put on the quantum mechanical essentials of electronic structure theory, namely the Pauli principle, correlation of electrons, and comparison to wavefunction methods. Later, we will delve into the depths of density functional theory itself, increasingly becoming experts on the topic as we advance through the semester. The final 3 lectures will be dedicated to cutting edge DFT methods and applications.
