6244901 – Digital Engineering and Construction
This course discusses the practical applications of digital technologies for the engineering design process throughout the lifecycle of construction projects. Students will get familiarized with the role of visual programming tools, the building information modeling (BIM) process, optimizing the original design with topology optimization (TO) and generative design, automation and robotics in construction using additive manufacturing and digital fabrication techniques, and state-of-the-art digital technologies, including cloud-based platforms, field monitoring using smartphones, and virtual, augmented, and mixed reality devices, within the engineering design process of a construction project.
