Seminar on Actual Problems of Condensed Matter Theory
At this seminar (journal club), students and postdocs will overview recent papers of other people (not own work!) in condensed-matter theory. This type of a seminar can be considered as an advanced version of the "Hauptseminar" -- for Master and PhD students (and any other interested researchers). Here, however, not just general topics will be discussed, but the focus will be put on particular recent works within the topic. At the same time, the level of presentations should be elementary and pedagogical enough to be accessible to any Master student.
The seminar time slot is Tuesday, 10:00-11:30 (talk duration is up to 90 minutes). Room 11/12 is booked for this seminar, but in view of pandemic situations, the first talks will be given in Zoom.
Educational purpose of journal club: to expose students to modern trends (hot topics) in condensed-matter theory, to provide students with an opportunity to interact with scientists during the talks. This may, in particular, help you in choosing a topic for your master project.
You are welcome to suggest topics for your presentations or suggest possible topics/papers (even if you are not going to present a talk).
A list of possible topics will be published on the seminar website in ILIAS: you can choose one.
A certificate of attendance/certificate of presenting a talk can be issued on request.
