2400280 – Optimization Methods for Machine Learning and Engineering

Many methods from machine learning and engineering rely on optimization. This course introduces the major theoretical and algorithmic tools for solving optimization problems. A particular focus is on convex optimization. Historically important problems from machine learning, engineering and the natural sciences are used as illustration. The students apply their knowledge to practical optimization problems in tutorial exercises.
